The Mel Bornstein Clinic for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy

Want to join in making a difference?

We are raising money to benefit The Mel Bornstein Clinic for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. The demand for mental health services is at an all-time high. Any donation will make an impact. We provide high-quality psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for the community. Given our mission to serve all community members, patients appropriate for our services are seen, no matter their insurance or financial resources. Patients with limited financial resources are offered reduced fees and grants.

Why is the kind of therapy we provide important?

The Mel Bornstein Clinic provides psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Most community mental health centers or other sliding scale clinics provide short-term, behaviorally oriented treatment. While these treatments have their place, the Mel Bornstein Clinic offers a unique opportunity for long-term, in-depth, insight-oriented psychotherapy. This kind of treatment allows patients to make sense of their current struggles in light of earlier childhood experiences, attachments and relationships to promote long-term change. The clinic is dedicated to this form of therapy, as it can be life-changing for patients and communities.

Who are the clinicians providing the treatment?

Our dedicated clinicians are the backbone of our organization. They have chosen to work in a non-profit setting, built less than eight years ago from scratch, and are still giving it their all. Currently, we have 16 therapists and two psychiatrists working for us, providing the "on-the-ground" (and "on-the-screen") work. Because we are committed to accepting all forms of insurance, many of their reimbursements are below that of their colleagues in private practice or for-profit clinics. Your donation can help support them directly via the grant. One of our goals is to supplement their low fees with grant fund assistance, bringing their rates to an appropriate level given their significant education and experiences.

Veterans Connected

Our Mission

We support veterans and their families through spiritual encouragement, meaningful assistance, and a strong sense of community.

Serving Our Community

Veterans Connected is committed to reducing the veteran suicide rate and ensuring that no veteran stands alone. Through advocacy, mental health support, and meaningful community connections, we provide resources, hope, and practical assistance to help veterans and their families overcome challenges and move forward with strength and dignity.

In 2019, we recognized that many veterans in Michigan did not qualify for financial assistance through traditional programs. Some were excluded because they were not injured in the line of duty, did not meet income requirements, or served during periods that did not fit specific eligibility criteria.

Seeing these gaps, our founding group made a decision to address the problem in a Christian way and ensure that no veteran would be left behind.

Many veteran service organizations are limited by geographic boundaries, funding restrictions, or eligibility requirements established in their bylaws. Veterans Connected operates differently.

Our only requirements are:

  • There is a legitimate and verifiable need for assistance.
  • The individual served in the United States military.

Each request is carefully reviewed, including the specific need and the financial circumstances of the veteran or military family. Because of our streamlined process, decisions are often made within days, allowing us to respond quickly when help is needed most.

Veterans Connected does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, age, faith, sex, or the character of a veteran's discharge in the administration of its programs, services, and activities.

Zaman International

Zaman International is a world-class nonprofit organization with 30 years of on-the-ground experience empowering women and children to break the cycle of extreme poverty. Since 2010, we have helped over 480,000 of our neighbors in southeast Michigan while serving more than 4.7 million people around the world.

Zaman applies a needs-based, community-driven approach to help households meet their basic needs and overcome poverty through evolving education, workforce development, and employment programs at our Hope for Humanity Center in Inkster, Michigan, near Detroit.

At Zaman, we develop personal relationships with our clients through home visits and regular in-person consultations to ensure that assistance quickly and effectively meets their diverse needs. By providing urgent aid while promoting self-reliance as a path to sustainable employment, Zaman helps families transition from a handout to a hands-on model.

Since our founding in 1996, Zaman has grown from a grassroots group of volunteers into a global nonprofit. The success and continued growth of our organization stem from the passion and dedication shared by our team, volunteers, supporters, and community partners.

We hope you will join us as we work to break the cycle of poverty—one family at a time.
